Nominations for GEO Vice President for the 2009/10 school year are now open.  Please submit nominations in writing to the Steering Committee at the GEO office, 201 Student Union, or by email to geo{at}, and include email and phone contact information. Nominations will close 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11. The election will take place, as mandated in GEO’s bylaws, at the first membership meeting after the position becomes vacant.  This is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 16, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., in Campus Center Room 163c.

GEO Vice President is a year-long appointment that is a GEO eligible position, including tuition and fee waivers, and is paid at the average rate for graduate employees, $19.32 at 20 hours/week.  International students and US citizens are equally eligible to nominate themselves (or someone else) for GEO Vice President.  Nominees must be “members in good standing,” which, according to UAW Local 2322 bylaws article 17, is constituted by membership for two consecutive semesters.

Join us this Wednesday for our first membership meeting of the summer.  We have a number of exciting opportunities to get involved with the union, including our new International Student Caucus, and the Civil Rights Committee.  Are you working this summer and did not get paid on time?  We need to hear from you!  We will be discussing what steps to take next.  What are the issues you are facing in your department?  Come to participate in setting GEO’s priorities for the coming year.

Food will be available with vegan options.
