Fellow workers,

See below for some updates from your elected Bargaining Committee. If you have any questions or comments or wish to get more involved in bargaining, don’t hesitate to reach out to the whole committee by email at bargaining.

UPCOMING BARGAINING SESSIONS FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL

The union has confirmed the following dates to continue contract negotiations with the administration. ALL GRAD WORKERS are welcome and highly encouraged to attend these open bargaining sessions. If you have never been to one and do not know what to expect: you are not required to participate, and you are welcome to come and go as your schedule permits. Members attend these sessions to observe the process at the bargaining table, and to participate if so motivated.

Please save the date for the following bargaining sessions

  • Friday, April 12th (10am-12pm) – location TBD — THIS WEEK!
  • Friday, April 19th (10am-12pm) – location TBD
  • Tuesday, April 23rd (1pm-3pm) – LGRC room A112
  • Tuesday, April 30th (1pm-3pm) – LGRC room A112

LGRC (the Lederle Graduate Research Center) is located between the Physical Sciences Building and the traffic circle on North Pleasant Street, and directly across the street from the School of Public Health. It is near Worcester Dining Commons. Room A-112 is located on the first floor. Attending remotely is also an option, and a zoom link will be sent out before each session.

BARGAINING EDUCATION DROP-IN HOURS (This Week)

Tuesday, 4/9/2024 to Friday, 4/12/2024, 5-6pm Via ZOOM: (Link TBA)

As the contract campaign escalates, the administration will resort to common bargaining tactics to divide our solidarity. The administration has filed for a third-party mediator, and because it is essential to us that all members be informed and feel empowered to participate, the bargaining committee will resume drop-in hours for members to come and talk about bargaining in a casual, small-group setting. Each session will be hosted by two of the bargaining coordinators. Folks are tapping in at different points in the process, and a lot of folks are just starting to get involved now, so all questions are good questions!

BARGAINING COMMITTEE MEETINGS – NEW TIMES

The bargaining committee meets weekly in the GEO Office (Campus Center room 917), now during a new time block. Starting this week (April 11th), committee meetings will now be on Thursdays, 2pm-4pm. All members are welcome to attend and/or participate in bargaining committee meetings. In this space, the bargaining committee discusses strategy, news, proposals and counter-proposals, prepares for upcoming bargaining sessions and collective actions, and makes decisions as a group for how to move forward. We want to put into action the will of the membership, so we want member input!

in solidarity,

GEO Bargaining Committee
