Dear GEO Members,
The nominations have closed for the upcoming GEO elections, which will run from September 12th to the membership meeting on the 18th. Thank you to everyone who stepped up and nominated themselves or thoughtfully nominated someone else. Voting for a new GEO co-chair will be done by secret ballot and candidate statements are available here and at the polling station. There are also 2 Joint Council and 2 open Steering at Large positions with no nominations, so please consider nominating yourself or someone else at the membership meeting.
The power of our union rests on practicing democracy, and democracy is more than just voting— it is also actively engaging with the issues facing our union. Elections are an excellent opportunity to practice democracy through talking with the candidates and discussing where we’re at with other union members.
Polling will happen in the Campus Center Concourse (near the elevators on the first floor) at these times —
Thursday — 9/12 from 11:00-12:30
Friday — 9/13 from 10:00-11:00
Monday — 9/16 from 10:30-12:30 and 5:00-6:00
Tuesday — 9/17 from 10:00-12:00
and in LSL S330 (the Life Science Laboratories South Conference Room) on Wednesday — 9/18 from 4-6:00 and during the first 30 minutes of the membership meeting– until 6:30
