NOTICE OF GEO-UAW 2322 Interim Election

Dear GEO Members,
Nominations have closed for the GEO 2024 interim elections. Thank you to everyone who has stepped to nominate themselves or thoughtfully nominated someone else. Voting will begin by secret ballot starting February 22 through February 28. Candidate statements will be available at the polling station and available on the GEO website soon. Please see the official election notice below:
There will be an election for GEO-UAW 2322 Officers: (1) Interim Membership Organizer and (1) Bargaining Committee Research and Proposal Coordinator.
VOTING
Nominations for these positions have closed. Voting will occur from February 22 through the special general membership meeting on February 28 at 4:30pm. The meeting is scheduled specifically to conclude this interim election, so voting will be available from 4:30-5pm and then results will be announced.
In accordance with the bylaws, to accommodate those who cannot attend the membership meeting, additional voting by secret ballot will take place in the Campus Center Office at days and times to be announced between February 22 through February 28.
TERM AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF OFFICERS
In accordance with the GEO Bylaws, all officers are elected for one year terms. Bargaining team members serve for the length of a contract bargaining session. The Interim Election will be held for the duration of each term:
Bargaining Research and Proposal Coordinator (1)
The two Bargaining Research & Proposal Coordinators will focus on researching, drafting, discussing, and writing our contract proposals for negotiations. These elected members will also help argue for our proposals at the bargaining table with the administration. Paid GEO Bargaining team members are expected to make Bargaining-related trainings and meetings that have been scheduled (around team members’ availability). These elected members will also serve as the liaison between the negotiating/research group, and will be in regular communication with the existing listserv of members who have signed up to be active on this committee and the bargaining committee.
